KID TYPES:

Type: Astronaut	Company: Coleco (1986-87)
Description: 16” Kids dressed as astronauts, complete with space helmets. Their boxes are shaped like rocket ships with clear plastic fronts. They came with a flag, a full sized space poster, and a backpack.
Type: Babies	Company: Coleco (1986-88), Hasbro, Mattel
Description: 11” babies. Coleco Kids have bean bag bodies, Hasbro’s and Mattel’s Babies do not. They look more like Coleco Preemies, but are a little smaller. Babies can be bald or have a tuft of hair. Mattel’s have cornsilk tufts.
Type: Babblin’ Fun Kid	Company: Mattel (1998)
Description: This Kid sings and giggles depending on where you touch it. Comes with a song book. Requires batteries.
Type: Baby Bunny	Company: Hasbro
Description: A special delivery springtime bunny with floppy ears and a cottontail. The face is the only vinyl part. They are soft and cuddly. Each came with it’s own name and birth announcement. These should not be confused with the Babyland Bunny. This bunny has a much softer body, and their tails do not squeak.
Type: Baby Cries So Real	Company: Hasbro (1992)
Description: Feed this baby a drink of water, squeeze its wrist and hear it cry and see it’s real “tears”. Give it a kiss or wipe away it’s tears and it stops crying. They have cloth bodies, vinyl heads, and a cornsilk tuft of hair. About 14” tall. Requires batteries.
Type: Babyland Bunny	Company: Hasbro (1991)
Description: 12” Babies with vinyl faces and fuzzy attached bunny costumes. They have bunny paw “mittens” that can cover their hands. Their furry tails squeek.
Type: Babyland Chicks	Company: Hasbro (1993)
Description: Packaged for Easter 1993 in their own Easter baskets, these yellow or white Babies have vinyl faces and chick costumes. They have soft beaks on their hoods, and “pullover” wings that cover their hands. They chirp when you shake them.
Type: Babyland Kid	Company: Hasbro
Description: 10” Babies with non-removable clothing, including attached bonnets. They have little sprigs of cornsilk hair. Some have crinkly stuff inside their bibs, while others have squeakers. Their sleepers have pull-down back flaps that reveal their naked tushies.
Type: Baby Blanket Surprise	Company: Hasbro
Description: the sex of this Baby is a surprise until you open the blanket. They wear pink (girl) or blue (boy) hospital gowns, and have secret beauty marks. Their blankets double as an activity mat. They have a cornsilk tuft and use the same bodies as Teeny Tiny Preemies.
Type: Baseball Kids	Company: Coleco (1986-88)
Description: These 16” Kids came wearing offically licensed baseball uniforms for 17 different national baseball teams. They have a right or left “holding” hand to hold a pennant. Each Kid came with a baseball card with their statistics on it. These Kids were boys only, no girls.
Type: Bath Baby	Company: Mattel
Description: 12” all vinyl Babies that are packaged sitting in a floating bath ring. It comes with a working shower, which is activated by squeezing the attached whale. The whale squeaks when it’s dry.
Type: Bath Care Baby	Company: Hasbro (1994)
Description: Little Babies dressed in a t-shirt, diaper and booties. They are all vinyl and bald so they can go in the bath or the pool. They are approximately 11” tall.
Type: Birthday Kid	Company: Hasbro
Description: 16” Kids who come dressed in party clothes with a party horn that goes in it’s mouth. When you squeeze its belly, it toots the horn. Horn and party hat were included.
Type: Brushin’ Teeth Baby	Company: Mattel
Description: A 12” all vinyl Kid that comes ready to brush its teeth. The right hand is made to hold a toothbrush that bubbles. A cup is included so that your Kid can drink and then “spit” when it rinses it’s mouth.
Type: Bunny Bee	Company: Coleco, Hasbro
Description: Little animals with bunny ears and bee bodies. The Colecos are blue (boys) or pink (girls) with blue/pink /white stripes. They are about 10” long and are meant to be hung. The Hasbros are blue or pink with pink/blue/mint/peach/yellow stripes. They are a bit smaller than the Colecos and they squeak when you squeeze them.
Type: Cabbage Patch Kids	Company: Coleco (1983-89), Hasbro (1989-94), Jesmar (1983-84), Mattel (1994- 1999) TRU (Toys R Us) (2000)-2003) PlayAlong(2003-present)
Description: Basic Kid. Cloth Body, vinyl faces, and yarn hair. Coleco Kids are 16” tall, Hasbros and Mattel are about 14” tall. Jesmar Kids are made in Spain. They are abut 2” taller than Colecos, and their eyes are higher set. They have a wider range of hair/eye color combinations and they are thinner than Colecos. Note: Kids were also made in Japan (Tsukuda), South Africa (Tri Ang Pedigree) and Mexico (Lili Ledi) in the early years.
Type: Circus Kids	Company: Coleco (1984-85)
Description: Kids dressed as clowns, with clown suits, half-face masks and big shoes that sometimes squeak. They also came dressed as Ringmaster. Each Kid had a right or left “holding” hand.
Type: Circus Pony	Company: Coleco
Description: Rarest mass market type. Looks like Show Pony, but has a colored saddle with fringe, bridle, reins and leg warmers.
Type: Cornsilk Kids	Company: Coleco (1986-88)
Description: Kids with soft silky rooted nylon hair that can be brushed and styled. Each Kid had a right or left “holding” hand, and came with their own brush, cosmetic bag, extra hair ribbons and hair styling guide.
Type: Crib Snuggler	Company: Mattel
Description: Small Kid made to be put in a baby’s crib, similiar to My First Cabbage Patch. Has a chime in its body.
Type: Crimp n’ Curl Pets	Company: Hasbro (1993)
Description: Cuddly puppies and kittens with easy to style hair on the head and tail. About 10” long. They came with a bandana type collar and a paper “dog tag”.
Type: Crimp n’ Curl Pony	Company: Hasbro (1992)
Description: Comical looking vinyl ponies about 14” high. They are made for the Kids to ride, and have a molded saddle. They also came with reins and a bow, in a variety of colors.
Type: Designer Line	Company: Hasbro (1990)
Description: Kids with cornsilk hair in curent (at that time) styles. Some came with an extra pair of “Weebok” sneakers and a $5.00 Reebok discount coupon.
Type: Easy to Style Crimp n’ Curl Kids	Company: Hasbro
Description: Similiar to Pretty Crimp n’ Curl girls, but they are “smaller for smaller hands”. Made for younger children. They came with their own crimper, hair pick and pretend hair dryer.
Type: Elf	Company: Hasbro (1992)
Description: A K-Mart exclusive, these Kids were made for Christmas 1992. They had vinyl baby faces and non-removable elf costumes with pointy ears.
Type: Fifteenth Anniversary Kid	Company: Mattel (1998)
Description: This 16” Kid is a commemorative reproduction of the Kids made in ‘83. They are also packaged in a reproduction box.
Type: Fun Bubble Baby	Company: Mattel (1998)
Description: This all vinyl Kid comes dressed in a swimsuit and has swim fins and a snorkle that blows bubbles.
Type: Garden Fairy	Company: Mattel (1999)
Description: These 8" scented Kids come dressed as flower fairies.
Type: Growing Hair Kids	Company: Coleco (1987-88)
Description: Kids with stylable nylon hair. A section at the top of the head could extend or contract to make long or short styles. Each Kid came with hair brush, bow, ribbons and styling guide.
Type: Happy Sounds Kid	Company: Mattel (1995)
Description: 14” Kid that makes one of three different sounds when you hug them. Cornsilk hair, requires batteries.
Type: Heart to Heart Babies	Company: Hasbro (1992)
Description: 12” Babies with a mechanism inside them that makes a heart sound and a beating feeling when you press on their chests. A Toy R Us exclusive; requires batteries.
Type: Keepsake Kids	Company: Mattel (1997)
Description: A Target exclusive, these Kids have cornsilk hair, glass eyes, and come dressed in velvet outfits for the holiday season. Girls only.
Type: Kissin’ Kids	Company: Hasbro (1991)
Description: These Kids have pucker lips. When you squeeze their bellies, they make a sound that is supposed to sound like a “smack”. (It really sounds more like a squeak). At the same time, their lips “pucker”, mimicking a kiss.
Type: Koosas	Company: Coleco
Description: Koosas resemble cats and dogs. Some have full heads of hair and some have tufts. They came in a variety of colors and textures. The Cat Koosas had two headmolds and the dog only one. Each came with a collar and tag and a piece of clothing. They are about the size of a regular Kid.
Type: Little Lullabye Kid	Company: Hasbro (1991)
Description: This Kid with non removable clothing, has a music box inside that plays Brahm’s Lullabye. To activate it, you simple press your Kid on the tummy.
Type: Love n’ Care Baby	Company: Hasbro (1993)
Description: These Kids are soft and cuddly. They have “dress me” activities sewn on, so that nothing gets lost. A child can learn to zip, snap, tie, button, diaper, feed, and dress. They are about 12” tall.
Type: Love n’ Go Kids	Company: Mattel
Description: These Kids are 8’ mini’s that come complete with a case full of themed accessories.
Type: Magic Meadow Pony	Company: Hasbro (1993)
Description: 6” vinyl ponies with designs on their bodies, and Crimp n’ Curl mane and tail.
Type: My First Cabbage Patch	Company: Hasbro
Description: A CPK for babies. It has a very soft body and its dressed in non- removable pajamas and bonnet. When you rock this Kid, you hear a chime. They’re about 11” tall.
Type: My Own Baby	Company: Hasbro
Description: This baby makes happy sounds when you are near and wearing the magic locket that came with it. If you move 8 feet away, the baby cries. To stop it, you must give the baby it’s pacifier. Requires batteries
Type: Newborn with Magical Monitor	Company: Hasbro (1991)
Description: These Babies came with two monitors. One, which was placed by the crib, does nothing. The other one, which is for Mom, cries, giggles, or says “Ma-ma” when you push a button. These Babies come dressed in t-shirt, diaper, and hospital bracelet. Requires batteries.
Type: Norma Jean	Company: Mattel (1998)
Description: Norma Jean first made her appearance in the CPK movie “The New Kid”. This is an 8” all vinyl Special Edition of her
Type: OlympiKids	Company: Mattel
Description: These Kids were the official mascot for the 1996 Olympics. They were dressed as swimmers, soccor players, tennis players and gymnasts. Their butt signature says “Olympic Kid”.
Type: Paintin’ Face Kids	Company: Mattel
Description: Kids with big cheeks, cornsilk hair and come equipped with an apron, paints and stencils so they could have their faces painted.
Type: Peek n’ Play	Company: Hasbro
Description: These are for older babies. They are solf and cuddly. Each one has a bonnet and fun activity toy (peek-a-boo mirror or rattle) sewn into the front of their attached outfit
Type: Pin Ups	Company: Coleco (1984)
Description: 5” vinyl CPK’s with yarn hair and cloth bodies. Their clothing is removable. Pin Ups have velcro so they can stick inside cloth bordered frames. They were made until 1985, and came in a variety of subjects.
Type: Posables	Company: Hasbro
Description: Kids with heavy wire armiture in them. They can stand freely and their arms and legs bend and stay in position. They are 16” tall.
Type: Preemies	Company: Coleco (1984-88) Hasbro (‘89-’93)
Description: Bald or tufted Babies who were born early, causing them to be a few inches smaller than the regular Kids.
Type: Pre-School Kids	Company: Hasbro (1991)
Description: About 12” tall, each of these Kids comes dressed in an outfit that is designed to teach preschoolers time, colors, shapes or numbers. They are Hasbro’s equivilant to the Coleco Toddler.
Type: PrettyCrimp n’ Curl Kids	Company: Hasbro
Description: These 14” girls have a special coated yarn for hair. The come with pretend curling iron, hair crimper and comb to create hair styles that hold their shape like magic. They have cloth bodies, sticky feeling yarn hair and vinyl heads.
Type: Ruff n’ Tuff Kids	Company: Hasbro (1993)
Description: These boys are dressed in rugged overalls, t-shirts, and caps, but they are soft and huggable. They have cloth bodies, vinyl heads and yarn hair. Although their clothing looks removable, it is not. It was designed to be a “boy’s best friend”. They are 14” tall.
Type: Santa	Company: Hasbro (1992)
Description: A Walmart exclusive for Christmas 1992, these 12” Kids have a vinyl baby face and non-removable Santa costume. Their beard is removable.
Type: Show Ponies	Company: Coleco
Description: Plush ponies that came with blue ribbons,saddle and bridle. Some came with CPK’s dressed as cowboys or cowgirls.
Type: Sippin’ Kids	Company: Hasbro
Description: This baby came with a bottle that mimicked the sound of a baby sucking. When your baby has eaten its fill, place it on your shoulder and firmly squeeze diaphram. You’ll hear your baby burp.
Type: Snacktime Kid	Company: Mattel
Description: This Kid was designed to “eat” pretend food that was included. The food was placed in the Kid’s mouth and it “ate” it. Eaten food dropped thru the head and into the backpack that came with each Kid. Unfortunately, this Kid also developed a taste for human hair, and so Mattel discontinued making them. Requires batteries. Extra “meals” were also available.
Type: Splashin’ Kids	Company: Coleco (1987-88)
Description: all vinyl Kids with cornsilk hair. These Kids could go in the pool or tub. They were dressed in swimsuits or bathrobes and slippers.
Type: Splash n’ Fun Baby	Company: Mattel (1998)
Description: This 8”, all vinyl baby wears a swimsuit, and comes with either a Wave Cruiser or Water Cycle. This Kid is made to go in the water.
Type: Splash n’ Tan Kids	Company: Hasbro (1991)
Description: These all vinyl 14” Kids “tan” when placed in the sun. They come complete with bathing suits and sunglasses. When the strap of their bathing suit is pulled back, tan lines appear. They can go in the bath, pool or to the beach.
Type: Stylin’ Hair Kid	Company: Mattel
Description: 14” girls with cornsilk hair that can be washed and styled over and over. They come with a smock, styling guide, and a lot of hair accessories.
Type: Talking Kids	Company: Coleco (1987-88)
Description: Smart girls(boys, though planned, were never “born”) who know about 100 words and can form sentences using them. Their mouths move as they speak. They are sensitive to touch and motion. They know if they are on their stomachs or held upside down and will LET YOU KNOW ABOUT IT! They have a special cup that they drink from, making real drinking sounds as they do. When there is more than one of them, they respond to each other, carrying on conversations and singing together. 434,000 talkers were made in 1987 and 1988. Requires LOTS of batteries.
Type: Talking Farm Babies	Company: Hasbro
Description: Dressed in colorful barnyard animal costumes, these little CPK’s make animal sounds when you press their tummies. They say things like “I am a cow.....moooooo”. There is a rooster, a lamb, and a cow. They are about 11” tall. Requires batteries.
Type: Teeny Tiny Preemies	Company: Hasbro (1992)
Description: These are 10” babies with painted hair and baby powder scent. Most arrived wearing a diaper, t-shirt, and a hospital I.D. wrist band.
Type: Teeny Tiny Twins	Company: Hasbro
Description: 10” babies with painted hair were either fraternal or identical. Their side tags state that they are twins. They came girl/girl or girl/boy only. No boy/boy combinations were made.
Type: Tenth Anniversary Kid	Company: Hasbro (1993 Limited Edition)
Description: This Kid is named “Zora Mae”. They are all identical, with blonde cornsilk hair and pink/black flowered dresses. Zora also came as African American.
Type: Toddlers	Company: Coleco (1988)
Description: These look just like the “big” Kids, except they are only 12” tall.
Type: Twins	Company: Coleco (1985-87)
Description: Twins dressed in matching outfits, mostly velvet tops/pants/tams or knit overalls/sweater/ caps. Twins could be two girls, two boys or a boy and a girl. Not all were identical. Many did not even have the same headmold, but they always had the same hair and eye color.
Type: World Travelers	Company: Coleco (1985-87)
Description: Kids dressed in traditional costumes from Holland, Spain, Russia, Scotland, or China. They came with passports, travel bag and a t-shirt that proclaimed “I’ve been to.....” with the country named.
